Progressive Cavity Pumps for Geothermal Drilling Fluids

Positive-displacement pumping for viscous, dense and solids-bearing fluids used in geothermal drilling and related well-construction operations.

Geothermal Drilling Service

Controlled transfer as drilling-fluid properties change

Geothermal drilling fluids can change in viscosity, density, solids loading and temperature during the drilling program. Progressive cavity pumps can provide controlled positive-displacement transfer for selected mud, bentonite and process-fluid duties when displacement, speed and inlet conditions are matched to the actual operating envelope.

Selection Framework

Temperature adds another dimension to drilling-fluid selection

High viscosity and solids can limit cavity filling, while abrasive particles accelerate rotor/stator wear. Geothermal service may also expose equipment to elevated or changing fluid temperatures, which should be included when evaluating elastomers, seals, speed and available drive torque.
