Progressive Cavity Pumps for Well Drilling & Geothermal

ACCA progressive cavity pumps provide rugged positive-displacement handling of drilling mud, bentonite and geothermal drilling fluids, with particular support for the widely used 3L4, 3L6, 3L8 and 3L10 drilling sizes.

Progressive Cavity Pump Technology

Progressive cavity performance for drilling fluids

A helical rotor rotates eccentrically inside an elastomeric stator, forming sealed cavities that progress from suction to discharge. The resulting positive-displacement flow is approximately proportional to speed and is well suited to viscous, abrasive and solids-bearing drilling fluids where controlled delivery is required.

For mud and bentonite service, cavity filling and wear are strongly influenced by viscosity, solids, suction conditions and operating speed. ACCA selects pump displacement and speed to meet the required flow while considering abrasive wear, differential pressure and the ability of the fluid to reach and fill the pumping cavities.

3L4, 3L6, 3L8 and 3L10 drilling focus

The 3L4, 3L6, 3L8 and 3L10 families are important drilling-service sizes for ACCA. The dedicated model-family page provides a commercial and technical pathway for customers replacing or supporting existing drilling pumps, while this hub remains focused on the broader water-well and geothermal application.

As ACCA expands its new-pump pages, these drilling families will connect to model-specific performance information and directly to compatible rotor, stator, connecting-rod and drive-end parts.

Drilling pump selection data

Provide required flow, suction and discharge pressure, viscosity range, density, temperature, solids concentration and particle size, abrasiveness, suction arrangement, operating speed and available drive information. Existing pump model and connection details are especially useful for replacement applications.

ACCA uses these data to evaluate displacement, operating speed, stages, rotor/stator materials, elastomer, drive torque and connection requirements.
