Why progressive cavity technology fits produced water
A helical rotor turning inside an elastomeric stator forms sealed cavities that progress continuously from suction to discharge. This positive-displacement action produces steady, low-pulsation flow that is approximately proportional to pump speed. It allows ACCA to size the pump around required transfer rate and differential pressure while accommodating produced-water streams that may also contain oil, sand, fines or other suspended material.
Variable-speed operation can provide useful turndown as field conditions change. Rotor, stator, seal and wetted-material selection are matched to the complete fluid chemistry and expected operating temperature rather than treating produced water as clean water service.
Produced-water pumping applications
Produced water can vary substantially during field operation. ACCA progressive cavity pumps can provide steady transfer to separation and treatment equipment, tank transfer and other oilfield water duties where hydrocarbons, suspended solids or changing viscosity affect the service. Selection should account for the most demanding credible fluid condition, not only average water composition.
Engineering considerations
Provide minimum, normal and maximum flow, suction and discharge pressure, oil content, solids concentration and particle size, temperature, viscosity, water chemistry, duty cycle and available suction conditions. ACCA uses these data to evaluate displacement, operating speed, staging, rotor and stator materials, elastomer compatibility, sealing and drive torque.
