Mixed-Flow Pumps
ACCA mixed-flow pumps combine radial and axial hydraulic action for high-capacity water movement at moderate head. They bridge the operating range between conventional vertical turbine and axial-flow pumps.
Mixed-Flow Pump Engineering Range
Flow
Hydraulic coverage extends from approximately 800 to 23,800 GPM, making mixed-flow pumps particularly useful for large-volume water systems.
Head
Available configurations can develop up to approximately 175 ft of head (about 75 psi), subject to hydraulic selection and speed.
Power
Driver requirements can extend to approximately 1,000 HP for large-capacity installations.
Temperature
Published water-service capability extends from approximately 36°F to 205°F (2°C to 93°C), with final material and driver limits verified for the selected equipment.
Configurations & Drivers
Mixed-flow hydraulics can be incorporated into vertical wet-pit and related water-pumping arrangements. Driver options include vertical electric motors, steam turbines, diesel engines and right-angle gear drives. Speed is selected from the required duty, hydraulic curve, available driver and mechanical limits.
Unlike a simple model-number replacement, a mixed-flow selection must account for the shape of the system curve. Power behavior can differ from conventional radial-flow pumps, making the complete operating range important when sizing the driver.
Construction & Materials
Standard Water-Service Construction
Typical construction can use Class 30 cast-iron suction/bowl components, Bronze 844 impellers and bushings, 316/416 stainless-steel bowl shafting, and A36 carbon-steel column and discharge-head fabrication.
Corrosion-Resistant Options
Nickel-aluminum bronze, standard bronze, 316 stainless steel and ductile iron are available for applications requiring different corrosion or mechanical properties.
Liquids
Selections can be configured for clean water, seawater and mining water when the metallurgy and hydraulic design are appropriate to the service.
Applications
Flood Control
Large-volume water movement where moderate head is required.
Water Treatment
Raw-water intake, transfer and treatment-plant pumping.
Tank-to-Tank Transfer
High-capacity movement between reservoirs, basins and storage systems.
Aquaculture
Fish-farm and seawater circulation duties with suitable materials.
Industrial Water
Cooling water, process water and other large-volume plant services.
Technical Selection Guidance
Provide minimum, normal and maximum flow, TDH at each condition, minimum water level, sump or intake geometry, liquid and temperature, solids information, materials, driver preference and available power. ACCA selects the bowl/impeller hydraulic and speed from the performance curve, then verifies efficiency, NPSHr, minimum submergence, shaft power and driver sizing across the expected operating range.
