Fire Pumps
ACCA supports engineered fire-water pumping systems for industrial, commercial, power-generation, construction and offshore applications, with vertical turbine arrangements particularly useful when the water supply is below the pump discharge elevation.
Fire Pump Engineering Range
Rated Capacity
Available fire-water pump configurations cover approximately 75–5,000 GPM.
Pressure
Published fire-pump capability extends approximately from 100 to 410 psi, subject to the selected pump, speed and driver.
Drivers
Packages can use vertical electric motors or diesel-engine arrangements with right-angle gear drives, depending on pump configuration and project requirements.
Water Source
Vertical turbine fire pumps are well suited to lakes, pits, tanks and other supplies where the pumping element can remain submerged below the minimum water level.
Fire-pump selection and compliance are project-specific. Required listings, approvals and jurisdictional requirements must be confirmed for each quotation.
Fire Pump System Configurations
Vertical Turbine Fire Pump
The bowl assembly remains submerged, eliminating the need to prime the pump before operation and providing a practical solution for below-grade water sources.
Electric Drive
Vertical electric motors can be paired with the pump where the electrical supply and project requirements support an electric fire-pump arrangement.
Diesel / Gear Drive
Diesel engines can drive vertical pumps through a right-angle gear arrangement where the project calls for engine-driven fire-water service.
Jockey Pump
A jockey pump maintains system pressure during small pressure losses so the main fire pump is not started unnecessarily. Controller and system design are coordinated with the overall fire-protection package.
Materials & Water Service
Standard fire-water arrangements are generally intended for clean fresh water. For saltwater, offshore or corrosive service, corrosion-resistant materials must be selected for the actual water chemistry and environment. Available vertical-pump materials include nickel-aluminum bronze, standard bronze, 316 stainless steel, ductile iron and cast iron where appropriate.
Applications
Industrial Facilities
Dedicated fire-water supply for manufacturing and process sites.
Commercial & Construction
Fire-protection water systems engineered around the specified rated demand and available source.
Power Generation
Fire-water service for power facilities requiring dependable high-pressure water supply.
Offshore & Marine
Special corrosion-resistant configurations for saltwater environments when required by the project.
NFPA 20 & Technical Selection Guidance
NFPA 20 is a principal U.S. standard governing the installation of stationary pumps for fire protection. A compliant project depends on the complete pump, driver, controller, water supply, installation and required approvals—not simply the pump model. ACCA should therefore receive the project fire-pump specification before final equipment selection.
For an RFQ, provide rated GPM and pressure, water-source type, minimum water level, driver preference, electrical data, project location, required controller, applicable edition/specification, and any required listing, approval, testing or documentation. For replacement work, include the existing pump, driver and controller nameplates.
