What the Gear Joint Does
The gear joint transmits torque between the drive assembly and rotor while accommodating the eccentric motion required by a progressive cavity pump. Wear in the joint, seals or related components can lead to lubricant loss or contamination, increased play, abnormal noise or vibration, and accelerated damage to mating components.
Moyno 2000 Series Gear Joint Kit Part Numbers
Use the existing kit number and pump drive-end family when identifying a replacement. The 87 and 88 designations are retained exactly as reference part-number families; do not select between them from the number alone when the installed configuration is uncertain.

Gear Joint Wear and Inspection
- Check for excessive play or backlash in the joint assembly.
- Inspect seals for damage and evidence of lubricant leakage.
- Look for contamination or deterioration of lubricant.
- Investigate new vibration, noise or irregular drive behavior.
- Inspect mating components when joint wear is found rather than replacing a seal in isolation.
